GENERAL STATEMENT: Only students currently enrolled in the Moody College of Communication are eligible to apply.
Purpose:
The Student Copywriter Associate in University Housing and Dining (UHD) position offers hands-on experience across multiple advertising, marketing and communication functions, helping you grow into a well-rounded professional. You’ll be part of a highly collaborative, creative team with high standards for timeliness, engagement and quality deliverables. This position will provide support and assistance through a variety of written mediums while enhancing writing skills, teamwork, interpersonal communication and understanding of a large organization.
Responsibilities:
Copywriting Support
Provide written support for marketing needs including but not limited to writing website content with visual assets, print and digital advertising, social media, creating surveys, short- and long-form articles, event handouts and more.
Research how to effectively adapt written content for various target audiences, SEO, email marketing and other digital channels. Assist in strategizing and implementing findings, ensuring alignment with brand and department goals.
Proofreading and Editing
Learn and maintain brand standards (UHD and University), tone, style and grammar for various marketing channels. Help team members proofread and edit various advertising, marketing and communications materials using brand standards and consistent tone, style and grammar.
Concepting and Crafting Written Content
Assist the marketing and communications team by brainstorming ideas for engaging residents, pitching new stories and thinking of other ways to share impactful written content.
Craft written content for different purposes and channels, including advertising, storytelling, newsletters, campaigns, digital platforms and more by applying the overall marketing strategy - determined by the marketing and communications team with your assistance.
Team Collaboration
Gain experience working with the marketing and communications team, both in large group and one-on-one settings.
Work collaboratively with the marketing, creative and communications teams through the creative lifecycle of projects and campaigns to bring ideas to life.
Required Qualifications:
Enrolled in courses at the Moody College of Communication
Preferred Qualifications:
Junior or senior status and/or must have completed at least one full academic year at an institute of higher learning (first year students are not eligible, regardless of earned credits or classification)
Strong writing skills
AP Style
Previous experience in advertising, marketing or another related field preferred
Compensation:
$13.75 per hour
Working Conditions:
This position is based in Austin, TX and is expected to work on campus
Position may work up to 25 hours per week
May work outside in all weather conditions
May work nights and weekends
Typical office environment
