Job Description
The Senior SEO Copywriter is responsible for writing and publishing long-form, SEO/AEO-optimized content for WGU’s website, including blogs, career guides, degree launch/update copy, other forms of webpage copy, and organic videos.
They also take an extensive role in SEO and messaging strategy in coordination with other SEO writers, analysts, school stakeholders, and partners.

You will create high-quality, search-optimized content that drives visibility, improves user experience, and supports key marketing initiatives. What You’ll Do
Write and manage SEO-optimized content for the university website, including blogs, career guides, and organic video"
- Execute content updates and new pages from SEO briefs, incorporating keyword integration, anchor text optimization, internal linking, and structural improvements
Edit and publish content using WGU's content management system
Conduct regular content audits to identify underperforming pages and opportunities for refresh and optimization
- Apply SEO and AEO best practices including content hierarchy, keyword placement, and proper content length while maintaining brand voice
- Monitor and optimize performance using tools such as SEOClarity, Profound, and generative AI tools like ChatGPT
- Mentor and guide other writers on SEO and AEO best practices and building authoritative content
- Collaborate with marketing stakeholders to support web content, degree launches, and strategic initiatives
What You’ll Bring

This is a full-time, in-office position requiring five days per week in our Salt Lake City, UT office, designed to foster the collaboration and connection that fuel our best work.

This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year). Additional travel may include conferences, visits to company locations, commencements, and other business-related events as needed.
