  • The Editorial Content Intern will assist the Moody College of Communication’s Communications Manager in writing feature and news stories that will be published on the Moody College website throughout the semester. This will be an excellent opportunity for the right student to build a portfolio and gain experience interviewing a variety of subject matter experts from fellow students to researchers and professors, and more.

General Notes:

  • This is a great opportunity to build and develop your portfolio in a creative, fast-paced environment at a top-tier university.

Purpose:

  • Support the Moody College Marketing and Communication team by producing editorial content.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Marketing and Communication team to identify storytelling opportunities.

  • Receive assignments and direction from communications manager to write content for the Moody College website, including

    articles and Q&As with students, faculty and alumni.

  • Attend and contribute to event coverage for web stories.

  • Deliver stories on deadline to maintain publishing schedule.

  • Receive and incorporate edits from communications manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Rising junior or senior at UT Austin

  • Strong writing and interviewing skills

  • Deadline-driven

  • Self-motivated but comfortable seeking direction and working as part of a team

  • Familiarity with Moody College

  • Preferred professional writing experience or journalism background

  • Experience with AP Style

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An ability to use one’s own judgement and work with moderate direction.

  • Creative and willing to pitch story ideas.

Salary Range:

  • $13/hr

Weekly Scheduled Hours:

  • 15hrs/week

Working Conditions:

  • While this position is hybrid and most of the work can be done remotely, weekly check-in meetings and attending monthly editorial content meetings are essential for a quality internship experience.

  • Must consistent communication if something comes up that impacts work schedule/approaching deadline.

  • Intern must reach out by email or phone should a matter arise, and we will work toward a solution.

  • Open communication, respectful conduct, punctuality and adaptability
