At Warner Chappell Music (WCM) - the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group (WMG) - we shape the culture of songwriting and champion songs that resonate for generations by creating transformational opportunities for songwriters everywhere. Our people and culture are at the epicenter of our company, and we are looking for team members who share our service-oriented mindset and have a passion for looking after our songwriters.
A little bit about our team:
Together with our Royalty and Income Tracking teams, the Copyright Team is part of our Administration division at Warner Chappell. The team is the custodian of our copyrights, responsible for the administration of all locally signed agreements and associated copyrights as well as maintaining the integrity of our extensive back-catalogue and performs an important role in completing the final step of the end-to-end music value chain at Warner Chappell.
Your role:
We’re looking for a forward-thinking, self-motivated Copyright Administrator to join our Regional Copyright team, based in Kuala Lumpur or Taiwan. Reporting to the APAC Copyright Manager, the Copyright Administrator handles the day-to-day execution of securing, maintaining, and defending the intellectual property rights of WCM’s songwriters and sub-published catalogs across regional territories. This position acts as the vital operational link between our creators, Warner Chappell’s proprietary global systems, and local Collective Management Organizations (CMOs). This role provides an end-to-end operational experience, executing everything from initial data entry to local licensing support and tracking.
Here you’ll get to:
1. Data Entry & System Operations
Data Entry: Accurately input and update complex deal data, song splits, and metadata into in-house global publishing administration system.
Data Integrity: Clean, format, and verify regional metadata to ensure seamless data flow across internal platforms and external global networks.
2. Registrations & Documentation
Agreement Registration: File and register regional and international publishing agreements, administration deals, and catalog acquisitions with local CMOs.
Manual Song Registrations: Execute local song registrations manually where regional societies require hands-on submission rather than automated electronic batch deliveries.
3. Conflict & Dispute Resolution
Dispute Investigation: Research, identify, and prepare documentation to resolve society-level counterclaims, double claims, and ownership conflicts.
Share Adjustments: Track and follow up on documentation revisions with CMOs to unlock frozen or suspended royalty pools.
4. Stakeholder Support & Troubleshooting
CMO Issue Tracking: Troubleshoot operational bottlenecks, ingestion rejections, and documentation discrepancies directly with local collection societies.
Responding to Queries: Provide prompt, helpful, and transparent support regarding copyright, registration shares, and splits directly to songwriters and artist management teams.
About you:
Experience: 1 to 3 years of direct experience in music publishing copyright metadata, performance rights organizations (PROs/CMOs), or general entertainment data entry.
System Knowledge: Experience with proprietary music databases or content management systems; basic familiarity with music publishing formats is a plus.
Data & Tech Literacy: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to handle repetitive, complex datasets. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets is required.
Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication skills; capability to respond professionally and politely to client queries and external partners.
Ability to read and write in English & Chinese (Simplified and Traditional)
Core Competencies
Attention to Detail: Deep focus on data precision, ensuring high accuracy across metadata and split sheets to safeguard royalty distributions.
Problem-Solving: Curiosity to dig into conflicting claims, troubleshoot society ingestion issues, and track down missing information.
Collaboration: A helpful mindset built for seamless daily teamwork with local creative offices and external regional societies.
We’d love it if you also had:
Ability to read and write in other languages: Korean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese
A thorough understanding of the collection society structures and their licensing/distribution processes
A passion for music
A background in collection society or music rights management administration
