Summary:
The Southern California News Group, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a content coordinator for sports. The content coordinator assists with the print production for multiple sports sections on multiple deadlines, ensuring copy flow, copy editing stories, writing headlines, and display copy and proofreading pages.
What you will do:
Play an essential role in quality control for the many sports print editions
Communicate with other members of the print desk during afternoon and evening shifts
Perform regular copy editing of sports stories
Write headlines and display copy (captions, subheads, etc.) throughout the sports sections
Proofread completed pages
What you will bring:
Experience in a similar role at a daily newspaper
Strong journalism and editing skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with page designers, reporters and editors
Ability to learn new content management systems quickly
Knowledge of Southern California sports scene is a plus
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly wage is $24.52 + cell phone stipend.
