The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Beauty & Wellness Editor to join British Vogue's award-winning team on a 12 month fixed term maternity contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing across both digital and print platforms, while also supporting the editorial team’s operational needs. You will have significant experience in beauty, wellness, health writing, and editing, with an instinct for storytelling and a strong understanding of current industry trends.
Reporting into Vogue’s Beauty & Wellness Director, this role will have global reach through Vogue’s global syndication network, working closely with wellness editors in other markets to align on stories with both global and local resonance.
In the UK, the role will be responsible for supporting both the Beauty & Wellness Director and British Vogue Digital Director on the digital strategy for the wellness portion of the site.
What will you be doing?
Contribute to British Vogue’s reputation as a beauty and wellness authority by ideating, writing, and commissioning standout content for digital platforms, with oversight from the Beauty & Wellness Director and Digital Director.
Pitch and write digital stories on trending beauty, health, fitness, and wellness topics.
Lead in the ideation of original features for digital, both short and long-form, ensuring editorial innovation.
Regularly produce articles for our digital platforms (approximately 4 per week), maintain a balanced mix of features, evergreen content, and breaking news.
Edit and manage articles at various stages, from pitch to publish, ensuring high editorial standards, fact-checking, and adherence to Vogue’s tone of voice.
Oversee syndications from Vogue’s global network, ensuring that they meet British Vogue’s style guide.
Upload content via the CMS, collaborating with the Audience Development team to optimise digital stories for SEO.
Write and edit in-depth features on wellness trends with scientific literacy and a nuanced approach to physical and mental health topics.
Source accurate and up-to-date evidence, and ensure meticulous fact-checking.
Actively contribute to the commercially-minded beauty and wellness team, participating in content ideation for both editorial and commercial projects.
Attend Vogue events and act as a British Vogue ambassador at key press events, networking with industry professionals.
Participate in cross-department initiatives, contributing to Vogue-led events and editorial franchises.
Manage product call-ins, maintain beauty credits, and keep the beauty cupboard organised
Support the Beauty & Wellness Director and deputise in her absence when needed.
Undertake any other duties as reasonably required
About you
Minimum of 7 years of editorial experience in beauty, wellness, or health, with significant experience writing, editing, and managing both digital and print content.
Strong industry relationships with beauty and wellness brands, including expertise in current trends.
Excellent storytelling skills, able to translate ideas across print, digital, and social platforms.
Proven ability to produce clean, engaging, and SEO-optimised content on tight deadlines.
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and strong time management skills.
Experience working within a commercially-driven editorial environment, generating creative ideas for brand-led content.
Confident in contributing to cross-departmental projects and supporting the wellness team with commercial partnerships and initiatives.
A keen eye for visuals and design, with the ability to collaborate with creative teams to deliver visually impactful stories.
Strong understanding of digital best practices, social video, and engagement strategies.
