As a Senior Copywriter in our in-house creative team (the Studio), you will work closely with partners within and outside of the Studio to produce highly-creative, culturally-relevant copy that drives the brand and business forward. Reporting to the Head of Global Copy, you will be part of a global team of copywriters dedicated to crafting exceptional brand storytelling that aligns with Back Market's tone of voice and business goals. You will master and uphold our brand's global tone of voice, ensuring consistency no matter the channel, the audience, or the media placement. This is a hybrid role with an expectation of 3 days a week in office at our conveniently located Union Square office.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop best-in-class copy that breaks through the slop, using humor; relatability; sharp cultural awareness and an intensely human voice to connect with people
Protect and execute the brand tone of voice, no matter the medium.
Responsible for the execution of copy for their regional market, as well as their global copy “squad.”
Deliver compelling and effective copy across multiple touchpoints, from a range including social media and above-the-line marketing (film, OOH) with an emphasis on video scripting for social platforms and social first copy, as well as to direct-to-consumer communications like banners, emails, push notifications—and bringing the same level of investment and execution to each.
Collaborate with the Back Market in-house studio team, including the in-house Social Team, Executive Creative Director, and design team, to support campaigns as well as day-to-day content.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners (especially within Marketing) to intake market-specific goals and insights and apply them in your copy.
Collaborate with Heads of Marketing to ensure that US marketing needs are met through creative.
Take the marketing data and objectives found in a brief and use them to guide the creation of exciting, compelling copy. You can trace your final draft — no matter how silly — back to the initial business goal outlined in any brief.
Help develop creative and copy direction for 360, 180, and 90 global campaigns and tailor them to the cultural specificities of the US market.
Collaborate with UX Content Designers to ensure the tone of voice stays on brand.
Intake, analyze, and execute against marketing data and insights to deliver successful copy in service of the business.
Onboard freelancers and maintain consistent communication with freelancers and creative agencies to Back Market tone of voice as necessary, including copy review.
Expected skills:
5+ years of related experience in a creative marketing or creative agency team
Experience in translating complex briefs into outstanding copywriting and creative concepts.
Experience creating marketing/advertising campaigns from developing vision and the message platform to overseeing production on time and budget
Understanding and experience in creating integrated content across all marketing channels from digital, social media, and paid media
Strong creative vision with an understanding of business objectives
Experience with translating popular and consumer culture into effective marketing communications
Preferred skills:
Prior experience with full-funnel creative development
Experience collaborating with a large creative and marketing team, especially one that is global
Familiarity with Figma
