Turn/River Capital is a private equity firm that applies a proprietary growth engineering strategy to investing, partnering with software businesses to accelerate growth and build enduring value. The firm’s team of equal parts investors and operators provides hands-on operational support and the flexible capital to systematically scale marketing, sales and customer success at its portfolio companies. Founded in 2012 and based in San Francisco, Turn/River has $5.6bn in committed capital and invests globally with a focus on North America and Europe.
About the Role
You will be part of Turn/River's team of experts spanning go-to-market functions, collaborating with our portfolio companies to drive their growth. Your focus will be on digital marketing — with a specialization in SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO) — guiding and supporting our portfolio company leaders and teams in developing and executing programs that generate leads, pipeline, and, ultimately, revenue. Working with 2-3 companies at a time, you will need to quickly interpret context and data, implement scalable systems, and influence company leaders.
This is a role for someone who wants to operate at the frontier of digital marketing — where traditional SEO meets AI-driven discovery — and who thrives with real ownership across multiple high-stakes environments. You'll operate where best practices are still being written — making judgment calls, running experiments, and iterating faster than the industry can document. Ideal candidates are structured thinkers, self-starters, and results-oriented team players with a keen understanding of marketing funnels and a genuine curiosity about how AI is reshaping the way buyers discover products.
Key Responsibilities
Organic Pipeline Growth: Drive organic pipeline growth across 2–3 portfolio companies at a time — owning SEO and GEO strategy, execution, and performance from audit through hands-on optimization.
GEO Strategy & Roadmapping: Build and maintain GEO roadmaps that increase brand visibility and citation rates in AI-driven search experiences (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews), including developing repeatable frameworks for measuring what drives AI inclusion.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with portfolio company leaders across demand generation, content, product, and sales to align organic strategy with broader GTM priorities.
Performance Measurement & Attribution: Establish KPIs, dashboards, and AI-assisted attribution frameworks for SEO/GEO that connect organic activity to pipeline and revenue. Translate data into clear recommendations for executive audiences and surface insights that help teams double down on what's working.
Scalable Playbook Development: Codify successful programs into scalable playbooks that can be deployed across the Turn/River portfolio.
AI-Powered Workflow Design: Identify high-value automation opportunities within organic acquisition workflows. Decompose manual processes into agent-ready components — skills, tools, evaluation frameworks, and feedback loops — to accelerate execution.
Frontier AI Adoption: Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI landscape — new models, agent frameworks, and tooling — and rapidly prototype emerging organic acquisition approaches, including LLM-powered funnels and AI-assisted content strategies, to keep Turn/River's marketing function at the cutting edge.
Qualifications
5-8 years of experience in B2B digital marketing, with deep expertise in SEO/GEO.
Proven ability to scale inbound channels that drive measurable pipeline and revenue.
Strong familiarity with GEO monitoring platforms (e.g., Profound, DemandSphere, etc.).
Data-driven mindset; adept at using analytics to test, learn, and optimize.
Experience collaborating cross-functionally with content, product, and sales teams.
Comfortable managing agency or vendor relationships to maximize performance.
Strong communicator who can synthesize complex results for executive audiences.
Curious, experimental operator who continuously tests new approaches and technologies.
