About the Role:
Fixed Term Contract: 12 months parental leave cover
As a Publishing Lead in our School Publishing team, you will drive the commercial success of a portfolio of school learning resources across digital and print. Working closely with the Director of Publishing, you’ll identify new market opportunities, develop compelling publishing proposals, and lead titles from concept through to market.
This is a highly collaborative role that blends market insight, content leadership, and commercial decision‑making, partnering with authors, educators, and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑impact learning solutions for the Australian school market.
Identify and evaluate new publishing opportunities through deep market, curriculum, and competitor research
Develop and present commercially sound publishing proposals grounded in market insight
Lead end‑to‑end publishing projects across frontlist, backlist, and future lists
Commission and manage authors and contributors, ensuring high‑quality outputs delivered on time
Partner with learning design, content, production, and technology teams to deliver best‑practice products
Champion product quality through reviews, user testing, updates, and revisions
Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Customer Service to support launches, campaigns, and customer engagement
Build strong relationships with educators, schools, and key stakeholders to drive adoption and long‑term success
A university degree or equivalent professional experience
Strong understanding of the Australian education sector and curriculum (teaching experience a plus)
Proven experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and deadlines
Commercial acumen, including exposure to budgets, forecasting, or job costing
Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills
Strong research, analytical, and proposal‑writing capability
Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently
Confident using standard business tools and quick to learn new systems
Willingness to travel interstate as required
