The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, is looking for a Senior Editor to join its newsroom.
The person in this role will champion The Hill's stable of daily newsletters. The Senior Editor will play a key role in the flagship newsletter, Morning Report, helping develop its content and headlines, making final line edits and positioning it to drive conversation. This editor will also oversee daily policy newsletters, with an opportunity to help shape strategy and grow audiences.
An ability to work easily across departments is essential, as the Senior Editor will coordinate closely with the advertising team, communicate newsletter ad partnerships to the newsroom and ensure final products meet sales expectations.
This editor will manage editors and reporters, making management experience ideal.
Generally, the successful applicant will also work with reporters and editors to generate ideas and craft and refine nonpartisan stories across the political spectrum. A solid work ethic, excellent time-management skills and the ability to write and edit headlines and copy that sizzles are essential.
The full-time position is based at The Hill's Washington, D.C., office. It may require some night and weekend work.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Champion The Hill’s stable of daily newsletters, guiding reporting and editing; working with Sales team to execute sponsorships; growing audiences; strategizing to build the brand.
• Master The Hill’s newsletter platform and train others as needed
• Provide constructive feedback to reporters and editors
• Coordinate with other departments, such as sales and production, to ensure smooth content flow and timely publication
• Manage deadlines and workflows for assigned content
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior management
Requirements & Skills:
• A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field is required
• Previous editing experience in a metro or national media environment is preferred
• Must be well-versed in current events and politics
• Must thrive in a collaborative work environment
• Familiarity with Sailthru, Microsoft Suite, Google Trends, SEO and real-time analytics is a plus

Salary Range: $92,000.00 - $97,000.00 based upon experience
