Program dates : June 1st, 2026 – End date: August 6th, 2026
Location: Hybrid (up to three days—Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday—per week on-site in our Midtown NYC office or fully remote)
Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.
Weekly schedule : 28 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
Pay rate : $17.00/hour
As an HBG editorial intern at Little, Brown and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers , you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings.
Little, Brown’s hybrid summer intern will support our team by assisting managing editorial staff with projects. We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to learn about the publishing industry and be part of a team.
To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company as well as networking and career development opportunities.
Interested in exploring a career in book publishing
Self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills
Enthusiastic and excited about discussing recent books you’ve read
Possess a great attitude, curiosity, and a desire to learn and receive feedback
Resourceful with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and work independently, meeting deadlines with great organizational skills
Must be detail-oriented and interested in the finer points of grammar
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat
Previous experience in copyediting and/or proofreading preferred
Provide general assistance for the members of the Managing Editorial Dept.
Provide backup proofreads on various formats including young adult novels, graphic novels, and picture books, as well as ebook QAs
Check that typesetting corrections were correctly made
Review covers and check that interior art matches text
Light fact-checking and familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and preferred house style
Apply for Library of Congress CIP data
Attend status meetings and become familiar with schedules and workflow
